For the balloons frost a few cookies with colored frosting and place them on the cake as if they were a bunch of balloons. Use colored icing to make the strings of the balloon. 

Movie themes - 

Kids always love cartoon characters from the latest movies. You can use this as a theme for the birthday cake decoration of your child. A popular theme used is Toy Story. Princess Cake -

This is the best theme for your little girl. For this you need three round 8 inch cakes and a cake baked in a four to six inch deep bowl and a Barbie Doll. Place them on top of each other with pink/ blue/ yellow colored frosting (as you like) to hold them together. Then you can place the cake baked in the bowl on top of the stack with the dome side up. Now place the doll in the center hole and decorate the rest of the cake as if a flowing princess dress. 

Butterfly Cake - 

This is a fun and colorful cake. You need a 9 inch cake with the dome cut off. Cut the cake like the peace sign and flip the four pieces. Now place the pieces with all the four corners facing the centre. This make a cute looking butterfly all you need to do is decorate it accordingly.
